Dr. Myers is fulfilled by his extensive work in training other veterinarians in endoscopy,
and is proud to have received endorsements to The American Association of Veterinary State Boards
and the Registry of Approved Continuing Education from these distinguished, respected professionals.

Clarence Rawlings, DVM, MS, PhD, Diplomate ACVS
"I endorse Dr. Carl Myers as an endoscopy instructor in order for participants to receive full credit for his continuing education instruction and hands-on training. Dr. Myers is a high-quality general practitioner who has spent the past 5 years developing a special interest and competency in endoscopic surgery.
I first met him 5 years ago when he attended the first of several endoscopy courses he has taken. I have also performed endoscopy at Theodore Veterinary Hospital. I have had the opportunity to observe his endoscopy "in situ" and his enthusiasm for teaching.
Dr. Myers is progressive and has a well-equipped hospital and talented staff. He has 3 different endoscopy towers and more than a dozen scopes. More importantly, he and his practice routinely and appropriately use endoscopy during their patient management. He is innovative in his application of endoscopy and has been very aggressive in developing his expertise. He could even be accused of being an endoscopy course "junkie". I believe that he has attended four of our endoscopy courses at the University of Georgia, three Life Learn courses at Guelph, and other endoscopy courses. I co-taught one course with him in Mobile as well as doing an "in-hospital" training at Theodore. I consider him to be one of the most endoscopically astute practitioners that I have observed."
NOTE: Dr. Rawlings is a general surgeon who retired June 2004 from the University of Georgia after 30 years.
He continues to practice with time divided between being a part-time surgeon at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates
in Gaithersburg, MD, as a surgeon at the University of Georgia Small Animal Hospital and as a surgery consultant.
Most consultation is providing endoscopic training in veterinary hospitals throughout the United States.
He is past president of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and directs Veterinary Endoscopy Training Symposia
at the University of Georgia. In addition to clinical practice, he has conducted basic and clinical research
into several areas involving heartworm disease, abdominal surgery, incontinence, and minimally invasive surgery.
and works closely with surgical device companies.

Kelly Carlson, Marketing Coordinator - Karl Storz Veterinary Endoscopy
"As the RACE program administrator for Karl Storz Veterinary Endoscopy, I am knowledgeable as to RACE standards, procedures and policies. As one of the most technologically advanced veterinary practices in the country, I believe that Theodore Veterinary Hospital would uphold the standards set forth by RACE.
Dr. Myers is one of the most proficient and experienced general practitioners performing laparoscopic surgery. As a small animal general practitioner, Dr. Myers has actively sought to expand the use of laparoscopic surgery in veterinary medicine. In particular, Dr. Myers is intersted in educating other general practitioners on the benefits of laparscopic surgery and the merits of utilizing it in general practice.
Theodore Veterinary Hospital has demonstrated their ability to coordinate continuing education through their participation in the 2007 Mobile Alabama VMA meeting. Dr. Myers and Dr. David Martin, associate, Theodore Animal Hospital, coordinated the CE program. This program included a laparoscopic training course at the Theodore Veterinary Hospital which both Dr. Myers and Dr. Martin instructed alongside Dr. Clarence Rawlings, DVM, PhD, DACVS. Dr. Clarence Rawlings has since invited Dr. Myers to instruct continuing education endoscopy courses at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine Center for Continuing Education.
In addition, Theodore Veterinary Hospital has a large administrative staff well-trained in proper records maintenance with all records maintained electronically and a back-up system in place. This staff is well-equipped to maintain all records as required by RACE.
I have no reservations recommending that Theodore Veterinary Hospital be granted CE Provider status."

" I have been asked to submit a letter of reference with respect to the RACE qualifications of Dr. Carl Myers, with whom I have interacted extensively. I first met Dr. Myers in October 2007, where I had an occasion to visit his practice in Theodore, Alabama. I was immediately impressed with the progressive manner in which he practices his profession. This is reflected not only in available equipment and facility design, but in the thoroughness he displays in following his cases to completion. Carl is an outstanding diagnostician and surgeon. Furthermore, his communication skills are such that he readily conveys his knowledge and expertise to colleagues in teaching endeavors. I have had opportunities to observe Dr. Myers in this capacity and I can personally attest to his proficiency in these venues.
Dr. Myers has made it to a point to immerse himself in virtually all laparoscopic and thoracoscopic learning endeavors currently available to the veterinary surgeon. I know that he has attended a couple of Dr. Rawlings' sessions at UGA, as well as some Colorado State offerings. He has come to United States Surgical's training facility, where I operate with another colleague to teach veterinary and human surgeons laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery. Not only did he excel in the programs we offered, but was able to function as an assistant instructor by the end of the course. In fact, I intend to utilize Carl's expertise in some future courses I will teach at U.S. Surgical in the coming months."
